It's nice to see a non-hipster/yuppie new business going up on the Lower East Side. I say this, of course, after buying Earl Grey Creme tea at Moby's Teany Cafe and having drinks with fellow NYC photobloggers at Magician. Gentrification is such a head-trip sometimes.
Glass, Concrete and Stone is a great David Byrne song that I first heard while watching the even greater film Dirty Pretty Things. That story is about illegal immigrants in London, one of whom wants to come to New York to work in a cafe. Is Teany hiring?

...and a song I first heard in In Good Company. :) Quite a good pick.

google: "Earl Grey Creme" "teany"
And I find you.
Joe, let me tell you something about Earl Grey Creme. Once upon a time, I really didn't like Earl Grey. Twinings, Bigelow, what have you -- it's too flowery for me. With great reluctance, I ordered a pot o' Earl Grey Creme with my high tea at teany. Whoo boy, was I eating my words after that. It's good stuff. I felt bad for warding my friend off from it earlier, because of my bias against most Earl Greys in the world. Thank you, teany, for making me question my assumptions about Earl Grey, and you can never judge a book by its cover, and I'm still working on eradicating internalized racism. Thank you.
