I hope this email finds you well. Just a quick update on what I'm up to this month and next.

In January, my short film BEIJING HAZE premieres at Slamdance. The film was shot in Beijing and Rhode Island this summer and features the always awesome Jo Mei, who's now in her first year at Juilliard. I'll be in Park City for the festival, so if you're attending Slamdance/Sundance, please stop by and say hello! (And if you've got an extra couch for me to crash on, PLEASE get in touch...)

For those of you that missed DRY CLEAN ONLY during its festival run, you can now watch it at the PBS Independent Lens Online Shorts Festival. This short features great performances from Aaron Yoo, Debargo Sanyal, and Kavi Ladnier and will forever make you think twice before dropping off clothes at the cleaners. If you love the film, please VOTE for it on the PBS site and help us win the Audience Award.

None of my films or plays would be possible without the generous support and advice of great friends, family, and fellow artists. As another year comes to an end, I feel especially lucky to know such wonderful people. Thank you.

The first public reading of my new play No Time For Champions will be on Saturday, June 24 at the Phil Bosakowski Theatre. It's my first full-length play and I'm excited to be working with such a talented director and cast. Come check it out!

Desipina & Company is a fusion arts company focusing on film and theatre and is dedicated to promoting cross-pollinations of artistic, political and cultural dialogues. Founded in 2001 by sisters Rehana Mirza and Rohi Mirza Pandya, Desipina & Company's mission is to acknowledge the unique differences that exist within the Asian-American communities, which are often divided by race, religion, social and economic status.

My first short film Take It Or Leave It? will be screening at festivals this fall and next year. I wrote, directed, edited, shot, and composed the music for this four minute story about a woman preparing for a blind date. It features the wonderful Jackie Chung, whom some of you may recognize from Seven.11.2005.

I'm looking for a DP and a location sound person for two separate short DV projects to be shot on Sunday, May 29 and Saturday, June 18. Ideally, both crew members would be available for both shoots.

The DP should have a very good DV camera and at least a minimal lighting kit.

The Sound person should have experience in location field recording to DV and ideally have at least a mixer (I already have the other sound equipment). Experience with sound design is a big plus.

The shoots will be no more than 8 hours each and will probably be in Brooklyn. No/low pay for these gigs, but you'll get fed extremely well, free transportation, a credit, a DVD of the final cut, and a chance to work with a fun crew and some terrific Asian-American actors.

My short play "Beckoning Cat" is part of SEVEN.11.2005 at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum Theatre, which opened yesterday to a sold out weekend. It's a fun show, with a diverse mix of stories and some terrific acting. The run ends on April 18.
